CONS. Skill Balance. The game is balanced around non ruthless of course, and certain abilities work much better without gear or supports than others. As a heavy strike slayer, I especially suffer from the lack of leap-slam to engage and stun packs. Ranged monsters are extra difficult for true melee to deal with.

Siosa technically still sells active skill gems, but you can only buy them with a ruthless-exclusive currency called Uncarved Gemstone which you can only get from doing the Siosa quest, and killing Innocence (1 each). So basically, you're allowed to buy two active skill gems per character.
After 20 minutes of chipping away, even managing to get to phase 2, just get one-shot. In ruthless, you don't get to choose your build, so it's pure luck what you end-up with. I was really pleased. The point isn't to do everything you could do with modern tech, the point is to enjoy the process, the struggle, of achieving things without it. Ruthless is like that. In the main game mode, if you're an experienced player, the "real" game doesn't start till red maps, everything up to that is a faceroll.
